The Amazing Power Behind A Live Music Concert
When you are considering the power of Live music, it’s easy to be quite literal. For instance, I remember attending a Tool concert at a small arena in Massachusetts around the time they released the popular Lateralus. My girlfriend, at the time, and myself took our positions on the general admission floor somewhat early and were present for a bit of the bass tech’s sound check. Each strum of Justin Chancellor’s significantly tuned-down bass guitar actually seemed to lift us off the floor and make our hair stand on end. I found it quite exhilarating.
My girlfriend was reduced to a nauseous mess even before the concert began. She claimed it was the Fast-Food we ate before the show that drove her, vomiting, to the women’s room as Tool took the stage. Days later, when talking to a friend who knows a thing or two about the science of sound, I confirmed what I had suspected: it turns out that incredibly powerful low-end frequencies can effect the physical constitution of a concertgoer. Tool had claimed the stomach of my girlfriend.
The buzz of Live music can be powerful in a philosophical sense, as well. I’ve attended plenty of concerts where the next morning I felt a hollow sadness, and a longing to relive the previous night’s glory. The hours before, during, and after a great concert can transport a music fan to a whole other world, regardless of any booze, drugs, or other chemical enhancements.
It is a fact that an intimacy is established with not just other concertgoers, but with the band itself. Why else would generations of Grateful Dead fans dedicate much of their lives to following a group of hippies around the country? Live performances are moving, both physically and emotionally.
In the live music history, a lot of things have changed since those early days of, say, Woodstock. Venues of every size, shape, and character have included speakeasy-like basements, local clubs, sports arenas, outdoor pavilions, and even massive stadiums. Through it all, the concentrated community that is established during each live show has maintained a unique electric bond. Sure, peaceful sway dancing has been replaced with the visceral, and sometimes violent, crush of sweating bodies.
Surprisingly but true, cell phones have replaced lighters as a fan’s beacon of light. And general admission ‘mosh’ pits have replaced seated floor plans. Still, fans remain bound together under one raftered roof, held together by the occasional audience-sweeping spotlight, and the glorious chorus that everyone knows by heart.
The audience makes each song their own as they sing along and pump their fists to the music. This, in the end, is the true power of live music-that it brings together masses of people who wouldn’t otherwise give each other a second look or moment of acknowledgement. Whether in the brooding darkness of the club, or in the brilliant afternoon sunshine of a football stadium, when our favorite band is onstage, we all rock together as one.
Secrets to Buying Tickets on Ebay
Do you want to go to a baseball game, football game, or any sporting event? Do you want to go to see a concert starring your favorite band, or even a classical concert or opera? You can buy tickets to these events on ebay.
Ebay is especially easy to search for when it comes to buying tickets. There is a special search box on ebay, just for tickets. You can enter in the city, the type of event, the month, or even the specific day or venue. You can search as broadly or as specifically as you choose to.
Going through ticket brokers almost certainly results in you paying the maximum amount. You can likely purchase tickets to events more cheaply on ebay than through a ticket broker.
Here are a few ideas as to how to avoid this. If you are buying tickets for an event that has a lot of inventory available, look for those auctions that end during odd hours and on odd days. Look for auctions that end during the middle of the night in the time zone where the event is taking place. Short of that, look for auctions that end early morning, ideally before 6am. Also, try to especially avoid auctions that end on Friday evening or Sunday evening. Those auctions tend to be the most expensive.
In order not to over pay, set up in your mind the most money that you would be willing to pay to buy tickets to a particular event. This will take the emotional aspect out of the auction for you and keep you away from the mania that can ensue. By setting up your maximum price, you will always be satisfied. You either buy the tickets that would make you happy, or you dont only because you were not willing to pay as much as the tickets wound up costing.
You may also want to look for inadvertent misspellings in auction listings. Someone may be selling New York Yankees tickets and perhaps misspelled Yankees as Yankess. This is a great opportunity to uncover an auction that very few other people will see and bid on. There are numerous websites available that can help you find all the misspellings for auctions.
There are so many people buying and selling tickets on ebay, some people are less than honest in their dealings. You may encounter some people selling fake tickets. Do not be scammed by people selling fake tickets on ebay. So before you spend your money, make sure the tickets are genuine.
Ebay has an excellent review system. Those people who have purchased their goods in the past rate every person or company that is selling their goods and wares on ebay. Sellers who have sold many items and have an excellent rating are very likely to be trustworthy. An excellent rating is probably a rating about 95%. But even with a 95% rating, you should read the comments that people are saying about the seller. You especially want to read the negative comments. Those negative comments. Especially if they are recent comments, will give you a good sense as to the ethics that the seller has.
Buy your tickets on ebay with paypal. In the unfortunate event that your tickets are fakes, you can likely get your money back from paypal, if you put your claim in soon after the event.
You now know how to get tickets to those events on ebay. Now you can go out and safely and confidently buy tickets to theater and sporting events without having to overpay.
Wicked is Magically Capturing the Hearts of their Audiences
Wicked, the hit musical on Broadway, has managed to reach the hearts of thousands of Broadway enthusiasts – enough that, in as little as 14 months, all investments were covered by ticket sales. This exhilarating musical not only casted many familiar faces, but numerous new faces as well. Wicked debuted in 2003 and is no less magical now – 5 years later – than it was then. Audiences from east to west are engulfed in the magic of this story today, just as they were in 2003.
The Wicked Witch of the West (Elphaba) and the Good Witch of the North (Glinda) are not the only magical pieces to this production. There is something magical behind the entire story, and the way it captivates its audiences and performers. The story itself touches the heart of everyone who sees and hears it. How can an audience not be captivated when the story is so real, and so close to home, that you feel as if it’s yours?
Elphaba experienced much criticism, starting at childhood. Her experiences are what shaped her into who she is. As audiences experience this reality, there is no choice but to realize the reality of such events and how the events – throughout their lifetimes – are what made them who they are today. Whether Elphaba’s story is reality, or experience through pure magic, it’s captivating audiences left and right.
Making her first Broadway debut, Marcie Dodd has taken on the lead role in Wicked – Elphaba. She’s not the only new face to the set; the number of new faces to the set of Wicked is phenomenal: Katie Adams, Sonshine Allen, Sarah Bolt, Sam J. Cahn, Todd Hanebrink, Lindsay Janisse, Chelsea Krombach, Lindsay K. Northern, Rhea Patterson, Eddi Pendergraft, Amanda Rose, Heather Spore, Charlie Sutton, Cy Tyson, Brian Wanee, Jonathan Warren, Katie Webber, Robin Wilner, and Samantha Zack.
Many of the performers are also captivated by the magical essence of Wicked. Performers from the original cast have moved around from venue to venue: Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, and even the touring production.
To name a few actors who have moved around with the musical: Eden Espinoza, Annaleigh Ashford, and Carol Kane. Carol Kane originally played Miss Morrible on Broadway and is now performing the same role in Los Angeles. Eden Espinoza was originally cast as an understudy in Broadway and is now performing the lead role – Elphaba – in Los Angeles. Annaleigh Ashford is currently performing as Glinda in Chicago, the same character she portrayed on Broadway.
Even with all of the new faces in Broadway, Wicked has still casted many beloved performers. Carol Kane, David Garrison, Lenny Wolpe, Jayne Houdyshell, and P.J. Benjamin have all taken breaks in order to play in productions such as Wicked.
Regardless of where or when you see Wicked, you will experience it as if it was the first show ever. The passion and magic that comes from within the performers is nearly contagious. Wicked is captivating audiences from around the country, and will continue to spread its magic. Wherever you may sit in the theatre, you will be enthralled by a story that is nothing short of fascinating. Thanks to the traveling productions, the chances to see Wicked are becoming higher.
