An Introduction to Womanhood

Whoever said that diamonds are a girl’s best friend certainly knew what they were talking about. Being somewhat of a tomboy growing up, I was never really into jewelry. It did not interest me in the least and I always said that when I got married, I did not want a ring.

When I was seventeen years old, I had my first serious boyfriend. He gave me a gold necklace for Christmas and my nonchalant attitude towards jewelry vanished into thin air. I was fascinated with it and when we broke up and asked to have it back, I told him to drop on his head. It had been my first taste of womanly elegance and I was keeping it.

As the years went by and I eventually owned diamond rings in gold, I realized how cheap that necklace really was. But to me, it was still priceless, as it is the very first piece of jewelry that I ever owned, and I still have it to this day.
