The Cost of Freedom
I never knew how tied down I would feel when I bought my first car. I always figured that having a car meant having total freedom. That was before I had to make car payments and pay for car insurance every month. I felt tied down because I had a car.
I never really thought that the auto insurance would be as high as it was. I was told that it was high because I was a young driver and had never insured a vehicle before. It also did not help that I was driving a brand new vehicle, which made the insurance even higher.
After my first year, I decided to check some auto insurance quotes and see if there was anybody that would be willing to give me a better deal than what I was getting. I switched to a different company. The savings were not substantial, but every little bit, at the time, helped.
